Twenty outstanding contestants were selected to participate in the national finals on behalf of Shanghai Maritime University. In the end, 19 students from various majors won the national first prize, 97 students won the national second prize and 163 students won the national third prize.
The NECCS is the only national competition for comprehensive English ability of college students, which is jointly sponsored by the Steering Committee for Teaching Foreign Languages in Colleges and Universities of the Ministry of Education and the Research Institute for Teaching Foreign Languages in Colleges and Universities. This year, our students enthusiastically applied for the competition, and the total number of students reached 3,224. The College of Foreign Languages also set up a special team to ensure the orderly development of the competition. The fruitful achievement of this competition demonstrates the English teaching level of the College of Foreign Languages and the results of the reform of college English teaching over the years. The College of Foreign Languages will continue to effectively improve students' foreign language learning ability and promote foreign language teaching.
