In the afternoon of April 14, the College of Foreign Languages held a faculty meeting in the lecture hall of the Foreign Languages Building to inform about the work carried out since the beginning of the semester and to arrange the upcoming work. The meeting was presided over by Zhu Yaobin, Secretary of the Party Committee of the College, and attended by the College leadership team and all faculty members.
At the meeting, Vice Dean He Shaobin informed the recent work of the College, such as the admission of graduate students, graduation defense of the Master of Translation and Interpreting, and declaration of scientific research projects. He also suggested that teachers should pay attention to the daily accumulation of academic research and make preparations for the declaration of various projects in advance.
Vice Dean Guo Haixia highlighted the undergraduate teaching work of the College this semester, hoping that teachers should focus differently on students of different grades in undergraduate teaching, and actively participate in various teaching competitions, guide students to carry out innovative and entrepreneurial projects, and actively apply for various teaching projects to continuously improve the quality of undergraduate teaching.
Qian Minfang, Deputy Secretary of the Party committee of the College, informed the recent student work of the College, focusing on the employment situation of the College graduates, and made a detailed analysis of the employment progress of graduates, types of employment destinations, admissions to graduate schools and employment intentions of junior students, hoping that teachers would provide more comprehensive guidance to students in their postgraduate entrance examinations and future career.
Dean Zhang Yan combined her 15-year experience of teaching in the College, pointed out that the development of the College should be clearly oriented as a maritime university of foreign languages, not only to consolidate the discipline foundation but also to highlight the maritime characteristics. She also underlined that the College should coordinate resources, give full play to its advantages, and stimulate the enthusiasm of everyone for further development.
Zhu Yaobin informed the College leadership team adjustment, pointing out that the College positioning should show its maritime characteristics and integrate into the mainstream of the discipline. He emphasized that this year will mark the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Party. Teachers and students of the College should enhance their understanding of the Party to ensure the practice of the Party’s education policy.
