In the afternoon of April 12, a cutting-edge academic lecture on Research on the Difference between Chinese-English Translation Strategies and English-Chinese Translation Strategies was held in Room 326 of the Foreign Language Building. Professor Wang Jianguo, Director of the Institute of Foreign Languages of East China University of Science and Technology, gave the lecture. Vice Dean He Shaobin presided over the lecture and some teachers and graduate students of Master of Translation and Interpreting attended.
The lecture focused on the strategies, methods, and techniques of Chinese-English translation. According to Professor Wang Jianguo, in the traditional sense, there is no difference among Chinese-English translation strategies, methods, and techniques, which is because Chinese-English comparative studies are still insufficient. By reviewing the development of Chinese-English contrast research and translation and based on the current research, he pointed out the differences in strategies between Chinese-English translation and English-Chinese translation. He also gave useful suggestions for the writing of MTI practice reports.
This lecture has expanded the students' vision of translation study and research and helped their professional practical training and translation practice.
