A multilingual service center in the Lin-gang Special Area of the Pilot Free Trade Zone of China (Shanghai), which was built and operated by Shanghai Maritime University, was inaugurated at the launch ceremony of the new immigration service center in Lin-gang.
Lin-gang Special Area Immigration Service Center is the first regional one-stop comprehensive service platform for immigration services in Shanghai, which will coordinate the mobilization of public service resources and social forces to create the Xiaolintong service brand. This center is jointly established by Shanghai Maritime University and Lin-gang Special Area Management Committee, which provides regular on-site volunteer services and online order-taking services for international talents to settle, work and live in Lin-gang as well as international exchange and affairs of enterprises, institutions and government departments in Lin-gang in English, Japanese, French, Spanish, and German.
Huang Jingling, a third-year volunteer of Shanghai Maritime University majoring in English, said that she used her English expertise to provide consulting services for overseas talents in the volunteer service, and also further enhanced her learning of the second foreign language to make more international talents understand Lin-gang and fall in love with it with more accurate language.
It is reported that Shanghai Maritime University has been cooperating with the Administrative Committee of Lin-gang Special Area since the beginning of 2021, giving full play to the advantages of disciplines, faculty and cross-cultural communication, actively promoting the international talent service in Lin-gang, making positive contributions to the promotion of internationalization, international innovation synergy and healthy development of industry, academia, research and application in Lin-gang.
Up to now, there are 50 volunteers to undertake the international talent integration activities in the Lin-gang, completing the translation of a manual of Lin-gang overseas talent policy service, daily meeting translation and interpretation, and participating in activities. This year, the university will continue to undertake a series of regular and online services for the Multilingual Service Center of Lin-gang Special Area, and is expected to provide a total of 100 volunteers.
Zhang Yan, Dean of the College of Foreign Languages of Shanghai Maritime University, said that the establishment of the Multilingual Service Center in the Lin-gang is an important manifestation of the school's disciplinary and professional advantages in promoting the integration of the industry and the city.
