Students from the College of Foreign Languages volunteered in the community and were on the front line of pandemic prevention and control

After the outbreak of the COVID-19, the whole country went into the national war against the pandemic. Some students from the School of Foreign Languages responded to the call of the local government and volunteered in their hometowns, actively participating in the front line of the pandemic prevention and control work.

Wu Xianjun, a graduate student of English translation major in Grade 19, lives in Xinyang, Henan Province, which is close to Wuhan, and the work of preventing and controlling the pandemic is very difficult. As the pandemic situation in her hometown became more urgent, Wu registered for volunteer work and fought together with the community members and party activists. We took turns to stand on guard, day and night, supervising the community residents to wear masks, stopping the gathering of two or more people, and promoting the knowledge of pandemic prevention, reminding people to go out less, wash hands more often, pay attention to protection, maintain good community order, and contribute to the community pandemic prevention work.

Yu Jie, a 19-year graduate student in English translation, lives in Tai'an, Shandong Province, where 10 volunteers are on duty to take the temperature of vehicles and pedestrians, register information and even advise them to return. After learning this information, Yu Jie was the first to sign up and stood guard under the community arrangement. Every day, people passing by were asked to sign and take their body temperature, and they were allowed to pass only if they were normal, and if not necessary, they were advised to return, and if necessary, they were required to show proof. Yu Jie students feel a lot of pride to be able to dedicate themselves to the fight against the pandemic.

Tian Ruiying, a classmate of British Airways 181, has a home in Zibo, Shandong Province. After the pandemic, as a college student, Ruiying Tian always felt that she should do something. When I heard that the village was recruiting volunteers, I asked my parents for permission and signed up. Tian Ruiying was assigned to verify the information of foreigners at the persuasion point and to release or persuade them to return as appropriate. At first, it was a neighbor's uncle and aunt who led the work, but now, she already knows how this work should be done. In the work, the student felt that although the work of the point of return is simple, only need to register the purpose of visitors, where they come from and where they go, to prevent unqualified people from entering the village, but the work of the point of return is also difficult, the village is more difficult to manage than the city, to persuade some irritable visitors need more patience, need to verify whether the visitors are lying, to be responsible for the safety of the whole village.

Everyone is responsible for the prevention and control of the pandemic. Although the power of each person is insignificant, countless tiny forces can be forged into a great wall of steel to stop the pandemic.
