On January 5, 2019, the Shanghai Higher Education Institution Yixue Cup Business English Practical Skills Competition, sponsored by Shanghai Foreign Language Society, was held at Shanghai University of International Business and Economics. The team from the Department of Business English of Shanghai Maritime University won the second prize.
The theme of the competition was new retail strategy. In nearly two months, instructors Wang Xian, Gu Jie and team members Tang Yi, Yang Ya Qiao and Chen Jiaqi cooperated with each other around the theme of the competition and conducted more than 10 times of data collection, on-site discussion and video conference to prepare for the competition and finally decided on the topic of Yonghui's Dual System Distribution. After that, the content, logic, novelty, dress code, presentation, PPT production, etc. were carefully revised and rehearsed for many times. During the competition, the team members played steadily and won the second prize. After the competition, the team members were interviewed by the organizer.
The Yixue Cup Business English Practical Skills Competition was held in a group format, and the competition was divided into two parts: software platform competition and on-site competition. The total score of the teams was determined based on the average score of the software platform competition*50% + the score of the on-site competition*50%, with a total score of 100 points. This competition aims to promote the construction of business English majors, curriculum reform, practice base construction, teacher team construction and teaching reform in Shanghai's higher education institutions, promote the integration of industry and education and school-enterprise cooperation, build a platform for inter-school teacher-student communication, further enhance the vocational ability and professionalism of college students in business English and related majors, and comprehensively improve the quality level of talent training.
