On the morning of December 6, 2018, Zhu Yaobin, Secretary of the Party Committee of the School of Foreign Languages, met with James Bullock, Head of PSE Program (IELTS Intensive English Course) and Andrew McColl, Deputy Project Management Manager of the University of Portsmouth, UK, who were visited by Li Fang, Director of International Exchange and Cooperation Program of the School, and Wang Wenjing, Secretary of Foreign Affairs, who attended the meeting.
Our university and the University of Portsmouth in the UK have been cooperating on the PSE program since 2016, and have now completed three sessions, with all the work progressing smoothly and the enrollment scale increasing from 31 students in 2016 to 75 students in 2018. The beautiful environment and quality teachers of our university have left a deep impression on the PSE students. This year, the data in the evaluation questionnaire of our PSE program participants continued to be in the top, with good feedback from all parties.
In the meeting, James Bullock highly praised the teaching quality and school environment of our school, and had an in-depth communication and discussion with us about some reforms of the PSE program in 2018 and the plan for 2019. 2019, Parkmouth will rearrange the partner institutions in China, and will put forward higher requirements for teaching arrangement and assessment.
Secretary Zhu Yaobin thanked Parkmouth for its affirmation of us and pointed out that the two schools have a solid foundation of cooperation and are important partners to each other. Based on the full communication between the two sides, our university will strive to send more excellent students to Parkmouth, and will continue to spare no effort to provide high-quality teachers and logistical support for the PSE program, and also look forward to cooperating with Parkmouth on more levels and projects in the future.
This meeting deepened the cooperation between the two sides and laid a solid foundation for further promotion of the PSE language enhancement program. Both sides hope that in 2019, the two schools will continue to maintain close cooperation based on the success of this year's test reform.
