On the morning of November 15, 2018, the expert evaluation meeting of the first-level degree authorization point of Foreign Languages and Literatures was successfully held in the conference room 515 of Foreign Languages Building.
Professor Chu Xiaoquan from Fudan University, Professor Peng Qinglong from Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Professor Yu Hongliang from Yangzhou University, Professor Chamin Jian from Shanghai International Studies University and Professor Fu Jingming from Shanghai University formed the evaluation group.
Vice President Yan Wei of Shanghai Maritime University, Dean Yang Bin of Graduate School, Party Secretary Zhu Yaobin of the College of Foreign Languages, Vice Dean of Research He Shaobin, and a team of nearly 15 professors from the College attended the review meeting, which was hosted by Secretary Zhu Yaobin of the College of Foreign Languages.
First of all, Vice President Yan Wei and Dean Yang Bin expressed their heartfelt thanks to the experts for visiting our college. Then, after carefully reviewing the self-assessment report of the college, the experts put forward many guiding suggestions.
The evaluation group unanimously agreed that the School of Foreign Languages and Literature of Shanghai Maritime University has a long history and deep tradition, and has formed a distinctive discipline direction and an effective training system through long-term development, with clear training objectives, a complete system, a reasonable structure of faculty members, and fruitful academic research results. It has a certain influence in the domestic foreign language field and has a good momentum of development.
At the same time, the expert group suggested that the university should increase the investment and support for the degree program, take effective measures to introduce talents, strengthen the faculty team, further refine the discipline direction, promote high-level academic research and create conditions for the upgrading of the degree program.
Finally, Vice President He Shaobin made a final concluding speech, saying that the college would face the problems seriously, reorganize the self-evaluation report, rectify one by one and improve it continuously.
The review meeting was held successfully, which is of great significance to promote the construction and development of disciplines and majors in the college.
