Recently, the Translators Association of China announced the project list of the 2024 Fu Lei Youth Translation Talent Development Program, and the project of Chinese-French Translation Practice and Publication of the Research Methodology of Ancient Chinese Aesthetic Thoughts declared by Dr. Xu Yiming, a French major teacher of the College of Foreign Languages, was approved.
Sponsored by Shanghai Pudong New Area Culture, Sports and Tourism Administration and Translators Association of China, the program aims to carry forward the spirit of Fu Lei, cultivate Chinese and French translation talents based on the development of Sino-French translation career, and contribute to the promotion of cultural and people-to-people exchanges between China and France. The Research Methodology of Ancient Chinese Aesthetic Thoughts is the work of Mr. Zhu Zhirong, a professor at the Chinese Department of East China Normal University and a well-known literary and art theorist. It is a major project of art science under the National Social Science Foundation, a project funded by the National Publishing Fund, and a result of the National Key book publishing planning project of the 14th Five-Year Plan. It provides an important ideological tracing and original research for the construction of contemporary Chinese aesthetic theories. Dr. Xu Yiming's project to translate it into French will help promote the special value of traditional Chinese aesthetic ideas to be recognized in the French-speaking region and play a supporting role in the field of aesthetics for Chinese culture to go global.
Previously, French major teacher Chai Yuanyuan's project Development and publication of the Chinese-French Bilingual Dictionary of Nautical Terms won the bid for the 2021 Fu Lei Youth Translation Talent Development Program project, which was completed in April 2023, and the result Concise French-Chinese Nautical Vocabulary Manual will be published by Shanghai Jiao Tong University Press. The French major will continue to earnestly grasp the spirit of the Three Guiding Opinions, with the support of the College of Foreign Languages, devote itself to the practice and exploration of telling Chinese stories well and spreading the voice of China well, actively organize teachers to apply for scientific research projects, and make continuous efforts to build a French major in maritime University with the characteristics of port and shipping regions and countries.
